These three dancing maidens are celebrating the idyllic life. Modeled after the first three of the artist's six daughters, Heidi, Holly, and Melanie portray for us a world without sorrow or malady, where peace exists between sisters and God's creatures. The peace of heaven is symbolized in the angelic touch to another; the peace on earth by the released white doves. Freedom from captivity is symbolized by the release of a golden quetzal. the soothing notes of the kena blend with songbirds' singing, and a splash from a crystal spring is frozen in time on its mirrored surface, rippled by the dancing foot whisked across it. And if, you say, this is Shangri-la can't exist where the land, the creatures, and people live in perfect peace, the gentle faces of the figures remind us that it comes from within.
